About Nusakan
Nusakan is a yellow-white star of class F, larger and hotter than the Sun. The brighter of its two stars has a powerful magnetic field and an unusual mix of elements on its surface, with some rare metals far more abundant than normal.
Its name comes from an Arabic phrase meaning the two series, referring to two lines of stars in this region. Nusakan sits beside Alphecca in the semicircle of the Northern Crown.
What you see in the piece
From Earth the Northern Crown is a neat arc. In the piece Nusakan lies at a different distance from Alphecca and the other jewels, so the arc bends out of shape as you fly away.
