About Minelauva

Minelauva is a red giant of class M, a star near the end of its life that has expanded far beyond the Sun’s width. Its surface is cool, which gives its light a reddish tone, but its vast size makes it far more luminous than the Sun.

It sits in the body of Virgo, among Porrima, Vindemiatrix and Heze. The name was adopted for this star by the International Astronomical Union; its origin is not certain.
