About Azmidi
Azmidi is an evolved star: its core hydrogen is spent, and it has grown far larger than the Sun, its surface cooled to a yellow much like the Sun’s. Spread over so wide a surface, that light adds up to a great output.
It lies in Puppis, one of the three parts into which the great southern ship Argo was divided, along with Carina and Vela. Puppis lies along the Milky Way, so the star sits against a rich background of fainter stars.
What you see in the piece
Azmidi lies far from the Sun, and in the piece it stays a faint yellow point even as nearer stars of the Stern swing past.
